  • What is interesting is the structure of the document as it creates the illusion of a dull yet lifeless times within the war; it also reveals that between times of action, times of boredom (particularly for soldiers) arise. This also suggests that the solider is fed up of this repetitive life of doom as indicated by such language (through the use of lists). The first later originates from 28th January 2016 yet the second is based on February 2016. What’s interesting about the second paragraph’s original date – is that it was written in the trenches which could possibly justify the quite sadistic tone and lack of optimism, enthusiasm and spirit. This could possibly be due to the fact that most people lived a predictable routine within the trenches, causing them to turn into quite angry individuals.
