Lottie Meade - Munitions Worker
Imperial War Museum

Wormington Road

Lottie Meade was poisoned to death in October 1916 by the TNT in the factory where she worked with munitions. Her and her fellow ‘canaries’ had been working at full capacity to make enough high explosives for the Somme. Her husband was away fighting on the Western Front. She left behind five children under seven.
